Trials
From DirtyTorque
Observed Trials (or Footups) is a form of motorsport that focuses mainly on skill and technical ability of the rider, as opposed to speed. A trials course consists of a circuit containing several sections, and at the sections riders are observed (hence the name observed trials) and penalised for mistakes made. The most common penalty is for putting a foot down ("footing") and scores 1 penalty point per foot up to a maximum of 3 points. Stalling, crashing, dismounting the bike, or missing a gate results in a penalty of 5 points, the maximum for a section... unless you argue with the observer, which can get you 10 points...
Trials bikes are specialised machines, usually 2 stroke bikes of between 250 and 300cc. They are set up and geared for low speed torque and manoeverability. The most notable features of trials bikes is the lack of a seat, and the small fuel tank (usually less than 3l, and built into the frame) the most common manufacturers of trials bikes are: Beta, Gas Gas, Montesa, and Sherco.
