What to Carry
From DirtyTorque
Must Have
- You should carry all the tools that you would need to work on your bike in the bush. The tools should be all flat and ring spanners and screw drivers that fit the nuts, bolts, and screws on YOUR bike. You should also carry a spark plug spanner, a pair of pliers, cable ties, duct tape, tow rope, tyre levers, tyre bomb, tyre puncture repair kit, aerosol tyre fix, a master link for your chain, pratley's steel, and a bottle opener (not absolutely necessary, but bush mechanics is thirsty work!)
- Clearly this is a lot of stuff and can add to the weight in your back/fanny pack. Having a pouch of sorts fitted to your fender to keep commonly used items in is a good idea. Fastening some cable ties (using two cable ties on each side) to the top of your forks gives you easy carry and access to them. Also, if you use insulation tape to tape your tyre levers to prevent damage from rubbing, you can cable tie them to the subframe inside your airbox for easy tranportation.
